Microneedling is a technique that we use to treat multiple skin conditions. It involves the use of a special device to create microscopic channels in your skin. This stimulates the production of new skin tissue displaying fewer imperfections like sun damage and facial aging.

What Does Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling can treat a large variety of skin issues. It helps to address skin complaints like wrinkles, scarring, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, and loose skin.

How Does It Work?

A session helps to boost the production of collagen and other healing factors through the delivery of safe and controlled skin openings. Collagen is an abundant protein that helps your skin remain volumized and youthful with a smooth, firm texture. Aging contributes to the decline of collagen in skin tissue, leading to the formation of lines and wrinkles, as well as other signs of aging.

What is a Procedure Like?

After cleansing and numbing your skin in the treatment area, our technician will gently glide a small device over your skin in a series of passes. Each pass of this device creates hundreds of microscopic channels in your skin. These are so small that they are not normally visible with the naked eye. Your body responds to the treatment by “filling in” the microscopic openings with fresh collagen and skin tissue. Certain growth factors can also be released to help rejuvenate skin tissue in the treatment area.

What are the Advantages of Undergoing the Treatment?

Minimally-invasive techniques like microneedling mean that less skin injury is needed to trigger skin rejuvenation. Since less skin is affected, your recovery time will be much shorter. In fact, most patients are able to resume normal activities immediately after their session.

Another key advantage is that the treatment offers very natural results. We are not making drastic changes to your facial profile. Instead, we are triggering a healing cascade that leads to results that appear very gradual and natural.

You may notice some initial results within weeks of your microneedling session. However, you may not obtain optimal results until two or more months after your treatment, as your skin gradually and naturally remodels itself.

Do I Need More Than One Treatment?

Patients typically benefit from more than one microneedling treatment session unless their skin condition is very superficial. Each treatment session will build upon the results of prior ones for a continual improvement in the health and appearance of your skin.
