Permanent makeup has been growing in popularity in recent years, with treatments like microblading usually taking center stage. There is also permanent makeup available for the lips, known as lip blushing. This form of lip tattoo can add the appearance of volume to the lips, as well as subtly enhancing the color.
At Dermatology & Skin Care Associates, we offer permanent makeup options such as microblading and lip blushing. If you are interested in learning more about the benefits of these treatments, we encourage you to visit our practice in West Chester, OH. Contact us today to schedule your consultation!
What is Lip Blushing?
In the past, permanent makeup used basically the same type of ink that is used in traditional tattoos. This ink is completely permanent, and this often leads to the unwanted effect of the ink fading to blue or green. Lip blushing, on the other hand, uses natural pigments that are semi-permanent. These pigments won’t change into unnatural colors over time.
What are the Benefits?
Lip blushing is subtle enough that it doesn’t look unnatural, but it can be used to replace your daily lipstick. This treatment also defines the lip edges, which can make them appear larger or fuller.
What to Expect
Before you visit our practice, try on different neutral lipstick shades to see which one you prefer. When you come in for your appointment, our esthetician will mix up a custom color for you, which can be based on your favorite neutral lipstick.
Most individuals who receive lip blushing report that there is little to no discomfort, and we will carefully numb the skin beforehand. Lip blushing does not go as deep into the skin as traditional tattooing, which will help to keep you comfortable.
After Your Treatment
Like with any tattoo, the immediate finished product is going to be brighter or darker than how your lips will look after they’ve had a chance to heal. It is important to keep your lips moisturized and be careful not to pick at any scabs that form.
Once your lips have completely healed, you are welcome to come back for a touch-up treatment if necessary. Some individuals find that certain areas do not hold the pigment as well as others, and pigment can be lost if you pick at the scabs.
