The FDA approved BOTOX® Cosmetic in 2002. Since then over one million people have been treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic.
A typical visit for BOTOX® is about 10 minutes and within a few days you will see noticeable improvement.
Dr. Muennich will determine exactly where to administer the injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required, although she may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief. You may resume normal activity immediately. You do not need to anticipate any recovery period or downtime.
Individual results may vary but expect results to last 4 months.
The most common side effects include headache, respiratory infection, temporary eyelid droop, nausea, and a flu-like syndrome. Patients with neurological disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk for side effects. Other side effects include pain and redness where the medicine is injected, pain in the face, and muscle weakness. These effects generally occur within the first week and usually go away on their own.
If you decide to discontinue with BOTOX® Cosmetic, the treatment area will eventually go back to its pretreatment appearance.
